The food scavenger app/prototype is our solution to reduce food waste across the globe. Main goal of our app is to provide better alternatives for your health while showing the user to be more mindful of what he/she is wasting. For the app to stand out from others we needed to set it apart from its competition and continue to build from there. While most apps or services offer what the Food Scavenger app has, none of them are offered in a single location rather multiple apps/services. Each and every section of the app is a feature that the user can access to become at waste managemnet while getting healthier. The app is designed around the user. From the start of signing up to finding customized recipes. Every aspect of what the user sees is from the intial set up from the information they inserted into the apps data log for restrictions or favorites. The feature displayed to the left is our Waste Effort section that calculates and tracks the individuals waste progress. Behind the interface of this section the user can add their grocery list manually or take a picture so the app can log it in for the dinner spinner, waste effort and meal planning. The main goal of this app is to help our users find new ways to be more mindful of what they waste and help find healthier alternative food choices.
Dinner Spinner is another feature within the app to help us reach personal goals and better the planet. While a lot of apps and even website have this feature we go to the extra measure of using the list you have already uploaded for the multiple different features we offer and generate tons of recipes specific to each users information. Every aspect and feature we offer is implemented to reduce our users overall food waste percentage. We decided to use a feature like this for our target market of young adults looking for quick but healthy food options. It also cuts out the problem of having to think about what to eat that night and picks for you. Dinner Spinner feature also tracks the different recipes you have cooked and does not offer the user it again until they have tried other amongst the options provided. After the user has prepared the food they will be prompted through a short survey so the app can process wether to keep the recipe or to never show it again based on what the user thinks of that meal. The app and its features continue to learn and adapt to the users.
Posts are from individual searchs when the user is looking for specific ingredients for their upcoming meal or just browsing the app for more future dinner recipes. Within this feature each recipe will have a short description and a video tutorial of how to prep and cook the following recipe. I call this the scavenging feature of the app. This feature is designed to look like a social feed so the user can spend their time looking for new recipe options to add. Having all of these features in one app makes for a happy user which in turn will progressively reach our goal of reducing individual food waste.
